What support will I get from my tutor?

You will be assigned a qualified and experienced tutor to provide assistance. You can email your tutor at any time or phone during business hours. Any queries will be responded to within one working day.


You can connect with other students taking the course by linking to the discussion forums from your personal page.

What happens if I want to cancel my course?

By logging into your course on our online learning platform, you are deemed to have accepted our terms and conditions. If you are not satisfied with your course and you cancel within 8 days, you will be entitled to a full money back guarantee less a $50 + GST administration fee. If you cancel after this time, you will be liable to pay the full amount outstanding. All requests for course cancellations must be made in writing to info@careeracademy.co.nz to qualify.

How do I enrol in a course?

Click the ‘Add to cart’ button on the course page. You can then pay via bank transfer, credit card or an interest free payment plan, alternatively call us on 0800 342 829 and we will process everything over the phone for you. Once you have enrolled, within one working day you will receive a welcome email from your tutor and your login details.

What qualification will I get?

You’ll receive a certificate of achievement on successful completion of your course. The Career Academy courses meet the standards required by industry and your qualification will be recognised by employers across New Zealand. We are an Approved Training Organisation and a number of our tutors are certified to plan and prepare training, assess student performance and design and develop assessments. Many of our courses are accredited by ICOES, the International Council for Online Educational Standards, which guarantees you a high standard of content with measurable outcomes from an ethically run training organisation. The Career Academy New Zealand is Internationally Approved and Registered by IARC. You will receive your certificate upon completion of your course.  If you are on a payment plan, you will receive your certificate once your final payment has been made.

How do the assessments work?

Assignments are open book and a combination of multi-choice, short answer questions and case studies. Once you’ve completed your assessment, simply upload it for marking. Tutors aim to grade your assessments within 3 to 5 working days of submission. If tutors are experiencing a high influx of assessments the turnaround time can be up to 10 working days.

How does online learning work?

Your course will be delivered by our online learning platform. You can access our online learning platform from any web browser so you can work whenever and where ever you have time. You can also interact with your tutors and other students in the learning environment. Online learning allows you to make the best use of your time and puts all the resources you need at your finger tips. There are no set course start dates, you can start when ever you are ready.


Your tutors will check in on your progress and you do need to set up time to do your work. Most of The Career Academy courses are designed so that you do one module a week. But if life gets busy you can take longer, or if you have time you can do more than one module a week.

Can I complete the course via correspondence or can you print the course notes out for me?

Yes – simply select this upgrade option when you enrol and we will send you printed course notes. You will still need to submit your assignments online via the Learning Platform. There is a fee of $100 + GST.

Some Certificate courses have optional online student study groups.  You will be placed in a study group with other students completing the same course as you which will enable you to connect, interact and share experiences.  Study groups are limited in size to ensure individual attention and easy interaction with other students.


What level are your courses at?

The Career Academy’s team of experienced course developers and tutors have had many years experience developing courses for leading tertiary institutions in New Zealand. Based on their experience, they have come up with appropriate levels for Career Academy courses.


Refund Policy – What happens if I want to cancel?

Students are deemed to be enrolled in a course when they have completed their student declaration and their welcome email has been sent out. Students are encouraged to read the Career Academy Student Policy online to ensure that they are aware of their rights and responsibilities as a student with the Academy. If a student fails to read their student policy in a satisfactory time or wishes to cancel before their student declaration has been signed their enrolment can be cancelled without any charge. Cancellations within 8 business days of your log in email being sent out will be entitled to a full refund (if a full payment student), or less the non-refundable establishment fee (if on an interest free payment plan). Refunds will only be processed on the 20th of the month. If you cancel after this time, you will be liable to pay the full amount outstanding. Requests for course cancellations must be made by filling this online form,  contacting the Cancellations Ambassador by emailing us at info@thecareeracademy.com or calling us on 0800 342 829.
