Our Psychology and Counselling courses and diplomas are not accredited by NZQA and are not national qualifications.

These are industry-accredited courses, recognised by the International Council for Online Educational Standards (ICOES) and the International Accreditation and Recognition Council (IARC). They are designed for introductory learning, practical skills development, personal interest and development.

Our Psychology and Counselling courses are not formally accredited or approved by the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC).

These courses provide introductory knowledge in psychology and counselling and may support personal development, professional development or further study. However, they do not include supervised clinical training and do not lead to professional registration.

NZAC registration requires an NZAC-accredited counselling qualification, usually at Bachelor’s or Master’s level, along with approved practical and supervised experience.

Students who intend to practise as a counsellor should check the registration or membership requirements of the relevant professional body in the country or region where they intend to work.

These courses do not lead to registration as a psychologist, counsellor, therapist or mental health professional in New Zealand or any other country.

Courses have been developed as a starting point for students with no prior experience in this area of study. Designed to provide an introduction to psychology and counselling concepts and may help you decide whether you wish to pursue further formal study, such as a university qualification, in this area.

On completion of this course, you will have a foundational understanding of the subject matter. However, if you wish to start a career as a registered psychologist, counsellor or other regulated mental health professional, you will need to check the entry and registration requirements in the country or region where you intend to practise. In most cases, this will require additional study through an approved university or recognised education provider, along with supervised practical experience.

In New Zealand, becoming a registered psychologist requires an approved psychology pathway and registration with the New Zealand Psychologists Board. This typically includes postgraduate study and supervised practice.

Becoming a registered counsellor also requires meeting the requirements of the relevant professional body in the country where you intend to practise. For example, NZAC registration in New Zealand requires an NZAC-accredited counselling qualification and supervised practical experience.

These courses do not qualify graduates to work as a registered psychologist, counsellor, therapist or regulated mental health professional.

These courses are designed as an introductory starting point for students with no prior experience in the subject area. It may be suitable for personal interest, self-development, general professional development or as a way to explore whether you wish to pursue further formal study.

If you wish to work in a regulated role, you will need to check the qualification, registration, supervised practice and entry requirements in the country or region where you intend to work. These courses should not be considered a pathway to professional registration or clinical practice.

Credit transfer is determined by the receiving institution.

These courses may provide a useful introduction to psychology and counselling concepts, but we cannot guarantee that universities or other education providers will recognise them for credit, advanced standing or entry into further study.
